Our Story

For the last 60 years, Big Horn Tire has stood on four core values: safety, integrity, quality, and service.

In pursuit of the American dream, John and Doris Crump started a Skelly gas station in 1963 in Gillette, WY so they could put food on the table for their growing family. A short year into business, they recognized a need for tires and moved their gas station operation to the storefront that still stands as the flagship Big Horn Tire location today. While working at the mine during the coal boom of the 80’s, their son, John Jr. Crump saw an opportunity to service the mining Industry with their OTR needs. He then made the decision to join the ranks of the family business, and it began to scale quickly. Shortly after, Cathy Crump (Stalcup) came on board to support the growth of their business.

Remaining a multi-generational, family-owned venture, Big Horn Tire values family at the heart of its operation for their employees, and exceptional service for their customers. Over the years, the Crump family has expanded Big Horn Tire into five other locations across three states.

While Big Horn Tire’s mining division is second to none, they also provide tire services to everyone, from those looking for a wheelbarrow tire to large commercial fleets to mobile service around the community. The Crump family prides themselves in being the one-stop-shop for all tire needs and light mechanical services for any vehicle.

As Big Horn Tire looks forward, it is dedicated to continuing to build relationships with their customers that last over the years. The reliable, top notch service of Big Horn Tire is not going anywhere. We’re more than just a tire company; we are a part of your community, and we’re here to stay.
